Complex information can also be explained visually
Working with institutional documentation involves managing large volumes of information, different reading levels, data, graphics, and technical content that must maintain rigor without being difficult to consult.
Our work starts precisely from this challenge: organizing the information before giving it shape.
We define hierarchies, structures, graphic resources, and layout systems that help the reader understand the content and facilitate consultation, always maintaining the institutional character of each publication.
Converting concepts into images
One of the main challenges was to visually represent the activity of the Council's different commissions and address concepts such as equal pay, social responsibility, or work-life balance.
To do this, we created a series of specific conceptual images for each area, working on the selection of objects, composition, color, and lighting to synthesize complex ideas through a common visual language.
The images did not function simply as decorative elements: they were part of the way the content was explained.
A turning point in their communication
The 2017 and 2018 Annual Reports created by Cactus represented a significant change in the way the Council's activity was presented.
Instead of approaching them solely as a compilation document, we worked on the art direction to turn them into a communication piece capable of visually explaining the entity's main areas of action. The new approach was very well received and opened the door to a more visual, informative and accessible way of presenting institutional content.
Editorial design that helps understanding
Our collaboration with the Labour Relations Council demonstrates that institutional design should not be limited to giving shape to a document.
When structure, content, and visual language work together, design becomes a tool for synthesizing information, facilitating understanding, and bringing complex content closer to very diverse audiences.
It's not just about laying out information. It's about making it easier to understand.
