At Cactus Seny Gràfic, we have worked to offer a simple and secure solution: we integrate our websites with the free invoicing software Nublar, developed by the company Ibaica, which is already prepared for the future Verifactu standard.
What is Verifactu?
Verifactu is a new verifiable invoicing system designed by the Tax Agency (AEAT) to ensure the traceability and integrity of invoices.
Its objective is to prevent modifications or deletions of invoices once issued, and to promote fiscal transparency.
This system establishes that all invoicing programs must comply with specific technical requirements and generate verifiable electronic invoices.
According to the official calendar, the regulation will be mandatory from July 2025, although a progressive adaptation period is expected depending on the type of company or activity.
This means that, before this date, all businesses will have to ensure that their invoicing software is compatible with Verifactu.
What elements must a Verifactu invoice include?
Verifiable invoices incorporate new mandatory fields and elements, among which the following stand out:
- Unique invoice identifier.
- Cryptographic hash linking each invoice to the previous one (security chain).
- Issuance timestamp.
- QR code that allows verifying its authenticity and consulting it with the Tax Agency.
- Visible mention of “Verifiable Invoice” or “Verifactu”.
This QR code is especially important: it allows anyone (customer or inspector) to easily check that the invoice has been generated with a verified system and has not been tampered with.
Why WooCommerce should not be the one issuing Verifactu invoices
It is true that today there are WooCommerce plugins that allow generating and sending automatic invoices to customers. However, these add-ons do not convert WooCommerce into certified invoicing software, and therefore it is not advisable to use it as a direct issuer of invoices under the Verifactu standard.
There are several technical and legal reasons that advise against it:
- Not prepared for invoice correlation and integrity: Verifactu requires each invoice to generate a unique hash linked to the previous invoice, creating a continuous cryptographic chain that guarantees its integrity. WooCommerce and its usual plugins do not manage this correlation securely or validated by the Tax Agency, which could lead to inconsistencies in numbering or break fiscal traceability.
- Risks in digital certificate management: To sign and send data to the AEAT, the system must use a digital certificate or a secure signature. Allowing an environment like WooCommerce —installed on a shared or third-party server— to manage the business’s digital certificate poses a high security risk, as it could expose sensitive data or fiscal credentials.
- Insecurity and lack of data control: WooCommerce is an e-commerce manager, not an invoicing system. Updates, plugin incompatibilities, or server errors can affect invoice registration or lead to data loss, which is unacceptable in a regulated environment like Verifactu.
- Complexity in regulatory compliance: Each Verifactu invoice must contain specific elements (hash, QR, unique identifier, timestamp…) and follow an exact format. Although some plugins try to replicate this behavior, none of them can guarantee official certification or full compliance with the regulation when it comes into force.
Therefore, WooCommerce cannot be the official invoice issuing system under the Verifactu standard.
If an online store directly generates invoices from its WooCommerce panel, these will not be legally valid for tax purposes once the rule comes into force.
The solution: integrate WooCommerce with Nublar
To ensure that our online stores comply with regulations and that our clients do not have to worry about penalties or complex adaptations, at Cactus Seny Gràfic we integrate all websites with Nublar, the free invoicing software developed by Ibaica.
What does Nublar offer?
- Full compliance with Verifactu.
- Automatic generation of the QR code and security hash.
- Immutable and ordered record of all invoices.
- Possibility of automatic or periodic submission to the Tax Agency.
- Direct integration with WooCommerce via API or secure connectors.
Thus, WooCommerce only acts as a point of sale, while Nublar is the one that issues the official invoice under Verifactu requirements. At Cactus Seny Gràfic, we have already implemented this connection for all our web projects, ensuring a seamless transition to the new model of secure and verifiable electronic invoicing.
Adapting your store to regulations like Verifactu is exactly the kind of work we do in our web programming service.
